A

Access Control: A system that uses ZoneSafe technology to manage and restrict entry for personnel and vehicles at designated points, ensuring only authorised access.

Activated Barriers: Physical barriers integrated with ZoneSafe systems that automatically open or close to control vehicle and pedestrian access based on real-time detection.

Activated Lights: Beacons and traffic lights that are automatically activated by ZoneSafe systems to provide clear visual warnings and manage traffic flow at critical points.

Asset Protection System: A ZoneSafe solution designed to prevent collisions between vehicles and static assets or equipment by using tags (like cone tags or tuff tags) placed on or around the asset, triggering alerts when a vehicle approaches.

C

Cone Tag: A type of tag used in ZoneSafe asset protection systems, typically placed on or around static assets to establish a detection zone.

D

Detection Zone: An adjustable, 360-degree safety perimeter established around vehicles, machinery, or specific areas, which triggers an alert when a person or object enters it.

Drop Zone Protection: A ZoneSafe application designed to create a defined safety area beneath overhead work, alerting groundworkers when they enter a potential falling hazard zone.

I

Infrastructure Sensor: A fixed reader or sensor installed at critical points (like blind spots or intersections) to detect vehicles (V2I) or pedestrians (P2I) and trigger warnings.

P

Pedestrian Sensor: A sensor attached to a vehicle that interacts with VibraTags worn by individuals to detect pedestrians in dangerous proximity.

Pedestrian-to-Infrastructure (P2I) System: A ZoneSafe system where a dedicated tag reader detects individuals carrying a VibraTag, activating warning signs or integrating with safety barriers to manage pedestrian access.

Proximity Warning System (PWS): A safety technology that uses sensors to alert individuals or operators when they are nearing a hazard or another object, playing a crucial role in reducing collision risks.

R

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Technology: A wireless technology used by ZoneSafe V2P and P2I systems that does not require a line of sight, allowing detection through obstructions like walls or blind corners.

T

TufTag: A durable type of tag used in ZoneSafe asset protection systems, designed for robustness in harsh environments.

U

UWB (Ultra-Wideband) Technology: A radio technology used by ZoneSafe V2V and V2I systems for greater distance detection (up to 50m), which typically relies on a line of sight.

V

Vehicle Sensor: A sensor fitted to a vehicle that detects other approaching vehicles (V2V) or fixed infrastructure readers (V2I).

Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) System: A ZoneSafe system that uses a vehicle sensor detected by a fixed infrastructure reader to activate visual warnings (e.g., flashing signs, beacons) or integrate with access control (e.g., safety gates) at critical points.

Vehicle-to-Pedestrian (V2P) System: A ZoneSafe system that uses a vehicle-mounted sensor interacting with active VibraTags worn by individuals to alert both the vehicle operator and the pedestrian when they are in dangerous proximity.

Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) System: A ZoneSafe system that uses in-vehicle sensors and control units to warn operators of other approaching vehicles, featuring configurable outer (up to 50m) and inner (5-15m) warning zones.

VibraTag: A personal alert device worn by individuals that interacts with ZoneSafe V2P and P2I systems, providing a vibration alert when in dangerous proximity to a vehicle or detected area.

W

Warning Signage & Projectors: Visual alert devices including warning signs and projectors, activated by ZoneSafe systems to clearly indicate approaching vehicles or hazards in the operational area.

Z

ZoneSafe Insight: A cloud-based data management system that logs events where detection zones are breached, providing analytical information for near-miss reporting, identifying high-risk areas, and analysing safety trends.
