The challenge: Preventing accidents in a global manufacturing environment
Mondi, a leading manufacturer in packaging and paper with over 100 production sites, had experienced near-misses and a non-serious accident involving forklift trucks and pedestrian workers. With a vast, global operation, the company decided to implement a safety detection solution to prevent a serious accident or fatality and ensure a safer working environment for its 26,000 employees.
The solution: Partnering for a comprehensive safety system
Mondi’s search for a reliable solution led them to ZoneSafe. They initially installed the ZoneSafe Vehicle to Person Alert Compact system in 2013 to prevent collisions between industrial vehicles and pedestrians. The solution was designed to fit any vehicle and could be installed in-house. Based on this success, Mondi again chose ZoneSafe in 2019 to trial additional safety systems, including forklift speed restriction zoning and a Vehicle to Vehicle Anti-Collision System. After reviewing a competitor’s equipment, Mondi found ZoneSafe’s products to be more robust and preferred the design of the tags, which were easily visible and fitted into a safety vest pocket.
The result: Zero incidents and an European-wide rollout
Since installing ZoneSafe safety detection solutions, Mondi has experienced no incidents or near-misses, which has had a positive effect on all employees and vehicle operators. Impressed by the results, Mondi has now rolled out the ZoneSafe system to other sites across Europe, ensuring the safety of its employees on a wider scale. The solution has proven to be a go-to choice for Mondi in creating safer places to work.
