Using a Proximity Warning System (and the 5 brilliant benefits you’ll see)

Why do you need a Proximity Warning System?

Pedestrians are the most at risk when accidents occur with a vehicle. When a pedestrian is not aware of an operating vehicle, accidental collisions often occur. This is common in busy or loud environments. The damage caused to a person by a forklift can often be severe, even fatal.

Zonesafe uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology that creates detection zones around vehicles, assets, crossing points and walkways.

Active tags are worn by personnel, fitted to assets or setup around hazards. They are identified by the system when entering the detection zone. This triggers an audible visual alert, warning vehicle operators of the tags close proximity to the vehicle. ZoneSafe tags have 360 degree visibility and will be detected regardless of obstructions, blind spots or poor visibility.

• 360 degree detection

• Single or multiple detection zones

• 3-9 metre detection range

• Detection even when there is an obstruction

• Event Data and Logging

So what are the advantages of using a proximity warning system?

  1. Fit a proximity warning system to a vehicle. It can help to significantly reduce the risk of an accident between a vehicle and an asset or person.
  2. Proximity warning systems are versatile and extremely robust. It can be fitted to any vehicle from a forklift truck to an excavator. ZoneSafe products can be fitted to ensure there is no damage, perfect for companies that rent or lease vehicles.
  3. The proximity warning system is 100% accurate. Every time the system identifies a tag, the alarm will warn the driver. With ZoneSafe products, the detection zone can also be modified to read a tag from between three and nine metres away.
  4. The system is cost effective. Further development has reduced the cost of RFID technology compared to just a few years ago. Proximity warning systems can also be far cheaper than having to redesign traffic flow, install walkways and safety barriers around a warehouse or factory.
  5. The proximity warning system can be part of a complete safety network package which can be set up throughout your work site. With the development of RFID, ZoneSafe systems can now store data and information which can be analysed to identify areas of risk including near misses. With ZoneSafe Insight you can now manage the safety of your site, through your phone, tablet, PC and laptop.
